Good Morning is one of very few companies in Australia with the capacity to puff whole grains.

We supply to some of Australia’s leading manufacturers and take pride in our service, product and reliability.

We take the finest, organic whole grains and apply a technique often referred to as gun-puffing.The whole grain is heated in a pressure vessel and when the pressure vessel opens, the sudden drop in pressure causes the grain to puff. The puffed grain is then screened to remove any broken or unpuffed grains and then packaged.

Our factory is currently running close to capacity and we ask manufacturers for a 3 week lead time to process orders. However, if this is not possible or if an order is urgent, we will do what we can to meet a deadline.

We supply in bulk quantities in easy to handle cartons. There are 48 cartons per pallet. Each type of grain has a different bulk density and the carton weights are as follows:

• Millet Puffs 3.0kg per carton
• Spelt Puffs 4.0kg per carton

The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point or HACCP is an internationally recognised systematic and preventive approach to food safety. The system is used at all stages of puffed grain preparation, production, packaging and distribution.

Scope of HACCP Analysis

Food Safety and Food Quality Hazards for Purchasing Raw Materials, Receival of Raw Materials, Storage of Raw Materials, Cereal Production, Packaging of Finished Product, Storage of finished packaged product, Despatch and Delivery.

Purpose of HACCP Analysis

To identify all potential food safety hazards, evaluate the hazards and develop preventative and control measures to satisfy consumers’ requirements and food safety legislation.

Product Description & Composition:
Puffed whole grains.

Legal:
All food is to comply with the Australian Food Standards Code, and associated legislation.

Method of Preservation:
Retail packs: Clean, new, sealed plastic bags.
Bulk product: Clean, new, Bulkabags on polythene base and wrapped in shrink-wrap.
Bulk cartons: Clean, plastic bags within fibreboard carton.
Store in dry storage area out of direct sunlight.

Health:
Free from visible disease, spoilage or contamination.
No evidence of temperature abuse such as discolouration, or sweating.
No evidence of tampering. (See Microbial criteria in product specifications).

Packaging (Plastic Materials for Food Contact use must meet Standard AS2070-1999):
125g & 175g heat sealed plastic bag.
2.0kg to 4.0kg Bulk carton containing secured plastic bag.

Storage Conditions:
Dry storage out of direct sunlight.

Shelf Life:
12 months following production – the product is Shelf-stable (meaning non-perishable food with a shelf life of many months to years).

Chemical: Chemical residue in product is less than the Maximum Residue Limits specified in Australian Food Standards Code A12 to A14.

Microbiological Criteria:
Finished packaged product – at the time of production and at Best Before Date, each product on a one to two year cycle:
• Faecal Coliforms <100 per gram
• Escherichia Coli < 3 per gram
• Plate Count < 100,000 per gram (10 gram sample to be provided).

We both come from farming families. After a number of years of farming in Tasmania, we wanted a change of lifestyle but one that would suit our values and fit in with raising our three young girls.

In 2003, we bought Good Morning Cereals, based in Queensland – the perfect small business for us to support Australia’s organic farmers and to offer Australians pure, simple goodness for their breakfast.

Like increasing numbers of people, we do our best to live a healthy lifestyle and we like to know our food is just the way nature intended. We still make our own preserves and bake our own treats – whenever we have time in between working to make our business the best it can be!

The grains for Good Morning Cereals are sourced from Australian farmers, wherever possible. Whether it is rice from Riverina, spelt from Gunnedah or sorghum from the Darling Downs, we like to think you can taste the Australian sunshine in our products.

All of our products are certified organic, grown by farmers who care as much as we do about quality and purity.

We base our business on loyal relationships – loyalty to the farmers who supply us and loyalty to the health food stores that specialise in offering foods people can trust. We also supply to manufacturers who use our cereals in other tasty, organic combinations.

Good Morning Cereals has a HACCP (Food Safety) Certificate
of Registration SQI 1086.

This recognises the implementation of a management system that conforms to SQI-HACCP including Codex Alimentarius. The company was first HACCP certified in 2003.

Good Morning Cereals has current a Certificate of Compliance from Australian Certified Organic as Processor 421P. In 2011, we were audited by Kosher Australia and all our products are certified Kosher.

Our customers range from the small organic muesli manufacturers, premium breakfast cereal manufacturers and large manufacturing companies. These companies are an important part of our business and we are committed to being a trusted and reliable supplier.

Currently our factory is running very close to capacity and our next stage of development is to move to larger premises and double our capacity. We hope to have this development underway by the end of 2011. While we are running close to capacity, the way we manage our production schedule is crucial, in order to meeting our customers’ delivery dates.

Our process for creating Good Morning Cereals is simple.
If you’ve ever made pop corn, you’ll get the idea.

We take the finest, organic whole grains and apply heat and pressure – the puffed grain is then screened to remove any broken and unpuffed grains and then packaged. We supply in bulk quantities in easy to handle cartons.

Nuts and Seeds

All our equipment is only used for grains. We do not store, process or package nuts, seeds, egg, dairy, seafood or soy on our premises.

This suits the increasing number of people who suffer from allergies and food sensitivities. For these people, our whole puffed grains offer a pure food with no added ingredients – you know exactly what you are getting.

Organic

All of our grain is certified organic. This means the farm is independently audited to check its practices and to ensure that no artificial pesticides and fertilizers are used. Genetic modification is not allowed on farms that are certified. As a certified organic processor, we are audited by ACO ( Australian Certified Organic) on an annual basis, to ensure we are conforming to the organic standards

Gluten

We process barley and spelt grain at our factory and both of these grains contain gluten. However, we have a strict production clean down procedure and also use production scheduling to control any risk of gluten traces. We process gluten grains about 12 times per year and have a very rigorous clean down procedure after processing. The tests on gluten free grains that we process after our clean down have shown that gluten is not detected, which confirms our cleaning procedures are satisfactory.

Try this delicious light and easy slice at home!

Ingredients

• 180g finely chopped white chocolate
• 125g copha
• 1 cup shredded coconut
• ¾ cup finely chopped dried apricots
• ½ cup pure icing sugar
• 2 cups Brown Rice puffs

Method

1. Line the base and sides of a large slice tin with baking paper.
2. Stir chocolate and copha over a medium heat until melted.
3. In a deep bowl combine the rice puffs, coconut, apricots and icing mix together.
4. Add the chocolate mix and stir well to combine.
5. Spread evenly in the prepared tin, press lightly and smooth surface.
6. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for 4 hours before cutting into squares.
7. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

If you want healthy, organic food, then a good muesli is a great starting point at any time of the day!

Ingredients

• 3 cups Good Morning Puffs
• 1 cup bran
• ½ cup LSA
• ½ cup chopped dried pears
• ½ cup sultanas
• ½ cup sunflower seeds
• ½ cup slivered almonds

Method

1. Mix well.
2. Serve with milk, a tablespoon of yoghurt and a drizzle of honey.
